Problems with printing a timesheet
A common problem which occurs while using the Smart system is that popup blocker programs normally found in browser toolbar add-ins will stop the ‘print weekly’ function from working correctly. The printed timesheet screen that is displayed within another browser window when you request a printed timesheet is considered to be a popup window.
The follow information can be used to setup the most common blockers that I have found so far, these being, Google, AltaVista & WinXP SP2 and for those with Firefox. Each are described below and how to make the Smart system website a ‘friendly’ site.

This toolbar is a simple version of a popup blocker. By simple pressing the toolbar button, it will toggle the blocker on or off. This is the simplest way to allow the timesheet printing window to be displayed.
Another way is to simply hold down the “ctrl-key” when you expect the popup window to be displayed, this with turn off the blocker while you hold down the “ctrl-key”. You can do this while pressing the ‘print’ button on the ‘print Timesheet…’ dialog box as shown below.

Once the ‘print’ button is pressed, continue holding down the ‘ctrl-key’ until the timesheet window is started up and is displayed, at this point you can release the ‘ctrl-key’.
My own personnel option, if you experience popup problems that require a popup blocker, I would use the Google toolbar, it allows more control over the blocking selections.

This popup blocker can be turned off by toggling the toolbar button on or off. It also has the ability to build a ‘whitelist’ of websites that are allowed to display popup screens. Just a word of warning, this toolbar can also send back to Google the websites that you visit.
I found the best way to add the Smart timesheet system to this ‘whitelist’ is to simply go though the process of printing a timesheet. The display of the timesheet will be blocked and the toolbar will display the following message for you.

As you can see from the instructions within this dialog box, you can add the site to the ‘whitelist’. How you do this follows below.
When you display the browser window again you will see the popup blocker count has increased by 1. See example below

If you hover the mouse over the pop-up blocker button, you will see the instructions that by simple clicking on the button will add the last blocked site to the ‘whitelist’. Do this and the toolbar should be allowing site popups like the picture below.

The next time you print your timesheet, it will display correctly.
Service pack 2 for windows XP now has a pop-up block built in, like the Google toolbar it also maintains a ‘whitelist’ of accepted websites allowed to use pop-ups. The quickest way of adding the Smart timesheet system to the list is to ‘print’ a timesheet. When the Smart system attempts to display the timesheet, it will be blocked and a message like below is displayed.

If you go back to the browser window of the Smart system you will see a line like below being displayed.

Once you click on this like you will see the screen as below, select ‘Always allow pop-ups from this site…”

Confirm on the next screen below that you wish to allow pop-ups.

You will need to shutdown and restart the browser for this to take effect, once done, you will be able to display the timesheets in another popup browser window.
